Upgraded to WordPress 2.5

Ok, so to go along with the new "rewiring" of the site, I also upgraded to WordPress 2.5. Of course, Mr. Jeff Atwood over at CodingHorror.com doesn’t agree, as his post here makes sure to point out. By all means I think his point of view is quite acceptable however I think there are way to many variables in his case to make a decent report on the performance quality of WordPress.

Besides the whole Windows vs. Linux/Unix thing (which is a non-issue really, since the problem is occurring when the page talks to the database,) he is running in a virtual machine and in my experience it has been noted that when you want to run something to test performance you do NOT run it in a virtual machine, but again that’s just my opinion.

Anyhoo, to get back on topic. HARD-WiRE is now WordPress 2.5 and we’ll see if we get enough traffic to cause any damage, although seeing as how I maybe get 2 to 3 unique visitors a month, I doubt that’s gonna happen.

HARD-WiRE - ReWired

Ok, yeah so the whole building a linux box didn’t go exactly as planned, but I got slackware 12.0 up and running on the old box and now its used for a Counter Strike: Source and Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year server (if interested let me know and I’ll pass on all the necessary details.) for now.

Anyhoo, the whole building a linux box fiasco is now behind me that I have a stable linux-powered machine, and now on to the new question of "What shall I do with this blog?" Well, after some thought I think I am going to start commenting about random tech-based news from around the net and my own personal projects (making this the 234,345,135th useless blog! w00t!)

So here I go with the re-wiring of HARD-WiRE. God help us all.
